The Biggest Lessons of the Year
Alright, so the year’s not quite over yet, but I’ve got my life lessons for the year learned already:
Persistence and Strength
First of all, persistence because this year I’ve found it really does pay off. Even the most impossible, daunting, rediculous goals get closer if you refuse to give up. On the other hand, if you’re persistent, start to see results, and then relax, you’re even worse off than when you began. So keep up with things. Stay focused, and it helps to incorporate your goals into a routine you do every day.
Because it’s too easy to fall off for a day, and put off something you really don’t have to do every day. So stay the hell focused and keep with it, even after you get your first results.
I think it’s a law of the world, that most people 80% of the distance they want to go, and then give up. Just going that extra 5%, if that’s all you’ve got makes all the difference in the world. Really. The difference between place and second place in the Olympics is .001 seconds, but worlds apart in accomplishment.
Which brings me to strength. No, I don’t mean strength as in how much you bench, but strength as in giving everything you’ve got to give, and doing what’s right. It never appears easy to do what you know needs to be done, but you’ve got to be mentally strong enough to trust your instincts and your gut.
This year there’s been so many opportunities for me to take a part time job, or a full time job, but that isn’t going to get me where I want to be. I want to be self-employed, with multiple businesses that contribute in big ways to society. I have a whole lot holding me back, mostly laziness, but the only way for me to get over that is by facing it myself. Going and getting a part time job may ease my financial stresses right now, but they won’t help me become the self-motivated person I need to become. Endure what comes with growing. It will be worth it.
